New Canaan Public Schools have clinched the top spots in Niche’s annual ranking of the best public elementary schools in Connecticut.
Leading the way is West School, ranked as the best elementary school in the state, with East School and South School following close behind in the second and third positions, respectively.
These schools shine because of their student-to-teacher ratios, dedicated faculty, and community support. West School, which serves students from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, has a student-teacher ratio of 11:1, with glowing reviews highlighting its nurturing environment. The school received an overall Niche grade of A+, reflecting excellence in academics, teacher quality, and resources.
Not far behind, East School also boasts an A+ rating and a student-teacher ratio of 12:1. Parents and students alike commend the school’s wide array of events, from the annual Fall Fair to its unique programs that foster creativity and camaraderie.
South School, while excelling in most areas, received mixed feedback in creative subjects. Despite this, parents were quick to praise its supportive approach for students with diverse needs.
Rounding out the top five is the International School at Dundee in Greenwich, known for its global curriculum and engaged community.
To determine the "best public schools in America," Niche's ranking was "based on rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from US Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users."
